I have a 2006 500 X2, the seat does not lock in place, so I have to strap it down when it is the trailer. I almost lost the seat one of the 1st or 2nd times I trailored it, looked back and saw the seat was off, pulled over and lucky it was back against the fold down ramp, since then I always put a strap on it.

On the trailer home from the dealership at interstate speeds of 65-75 MPH without any thought. Next time it's on the trailer, it will have a bungee - thanks for the insight

Well, here's another "never even crossed my mind", but on the next trip you bet it will have a strap around it. Thanks for the post.

About 10K miles of towing in open trailers last year alone and never a issue.

Lost my seat off my 850 touring one night on the way home from the dealer. I seen it just hanging on the edge of the trailor when a truck went by. Dealer didn't put it on right after they worked on it. No rips got lucky

I have heard of this happening so anytime I loaded my quad sideways it has always had a bungee on it just for extra insurance. Never worried about it when the quad was facing forward.
