The XP's now have the eps unit rotated 90 degrees so the motor points into the right wheel well, so a different gas tank isn't needed.

These machines really do come apart and go together easy as butter. Once you start taking plastic off, you see how well engineered the machine really is.

Either way, just got home to a big box from MRCycles, I took it out to the garage, unpacked the EPS unit and plugged it in just hoping it would work and IT DID!!!!

Over the next couple of mornings before work I'll start going back together with it. It really makes me feel good the electronics side of things worked out as I could not get a straight answer out of anybody because nobody has tried this before. All it is now is bolting parts together

I have seen a few complaints about play where the steering box slides into the splines on the lower steering shaft, I drilled and tapped it for a set screw, so I don't ever have to worry about that problem.

Here is the Steering Unit itself, mounted to the bracket that turns it 90 degrees so teh motor points into the right wheel well instead of the fuel tank.

I got it all back together today and took it for a ride, EPS works great, and its awesome with the plow on. I had to adjust the tie rods to get the alignment correct, and it now drives just as straight it ever did, you really don't realize how awesome EPS is until you ride a machine that has it. I'm thrilled this worked out as good as it did, although I do have around $1400 into it!!! :O On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I have the only X2 with EPS in existence

Here is a pic of the EPS unit mounted in the machine from the left wheelwell

Upper shaft installed

I cut the spacer between the frame and the battery to allow for the harness, and it fits nicely with out any sharp edges to chafe the harness.

Stickers!!!

That's interesting, you have 2 pinch bolts. I have 1.

I did just slide my shaft down a bit. Hopefully, that takes some of the play out of it.

Looks real good SeanE1987..........I've been waiting for Polaris to add EPS to the X2 also and now you have my attention on this thread. Have you tried riding your X2 with the power disconnected to the EPS unit to simulate a "power failure"?.........annnd what do you figure was the estimated shop time for Project EPS/X2........again, good job.....NoJoke

I would say 5-6 hours for an EPS install, Its actually really easy to install all the parts. The Wiring is the tough part because you either have to purchase an entire wiring harness or buy a used one and make an adapter harness like I did. Its hard to find people that work on atv's that are good with wiring like that. I do a ton of wiring repair, electrical diagnosis, and harness building at work, and have alot of know how on how automotive electrical works, I can go into a little more detail on the wiring if anyone is interested.

If I take the 30 amp EPS fuse out the EPS Malfunction light stays on and it steers like it did without EPS.
