Ricochet Full Armor Kit Installed 850XP

Got my Ricochet Full Armor Kit installed last night. Talk about quality and craftsmanship these guys have got it going on! Everything bolted right in place. Having some extra hands to hold the plates while starting bolts would've been helpful. I went ahead and had the whole kit anodized black and got the oil filter cover plate option. Forgive me for bad pics....They were taken last night due to my excitement.

Thanks Thor

Gonna go put them to the test today.

Very nice. One of the best investments you can make for your atv.
I'm going to order the floorboard guards today. I didn't get them last year when I bought the rest, but now wishing I had. Great, quality stuff, and I have put it to the test. Only thing I don't care for is the star heads on the bolts. They take a beating, and it can be very difficult to remove them come oil change time. The star shape transforms into different shapes when the rocks have their way with them. Thought about changing mine over to hex head bolts so there is something to get ahold of.

You might also check where your rear brake line hits on the a arm guard. It has a sharp edge and will wear on the line. A piece of fuel line or other similar tubing slipped over the brake line works well to protect from chaffing.

Looks AWESOME!!!

************

How thick is the armor? What size Bolts do they use to mount these plates?

Couple idea's depending on the above answer's......

A better option may be to counter sink the mounting holes on the skid plates/armour and use a "Flat Head - Socket Drive" or "Undercut Flat Head - Socket Drive" (If less than 1/4" thick). This would not leave any fasteners protruding allowing "hang up" points..... Just a thought.

Or switch to "Pan Head - Socket Drive" bolts vs. the supplied "Pan Head - Phillip's Drive" (aka "Star"). Hex heads would allow for more "shoulder" or hang up points..... but may be easier to remove than the pan heads!!

Also get the best grade (8+) on your pan heads, and you'd have less "hole mess" like mentioned above with the OE phillips drive bolts.

We call the "star" head a "torx" head where I live but I would agree they suck when trying to remove the armor. Just the other day I spent a wile fighting with those torx bolts on my a-arms guards.

OP the under armor looks awesome,I love the ionized black!

They are torx bolts. They switched to that I understand because guys were shearing off the heads or regular bolts. That being said, at least there is something to get vice grips on. I have not had to remove the torx ones though, but can imagine it will be awkward if I hit a few rocks. My end of the world a log is much more likely though.

Okay, Torx.... I see. But flat head sockets may be a good mod also..... easy drill out and vise grip stub if needed after plate is off. So, what do the plates attach to stay on the machine?

they have special brackets that go over the a arm on one end and a welded on nut on the other end. Sort of like a conduit clamp but way more beefy. Every application is different and has its own special clamps. My 850's were different than the ones on my 500Ho which makes sense as the covers are different as well. The guards are very substantial and are almost a 3/16 of an inch thick or so.
