Rack Extender on Front Box?

I have a 2010 Polaris X2 with the front lock and ride box. Is there any way to mount a factory polaris front rack extender on it. I have the composite rack extender on my 2012 550 eps, and the mounting holes will not line up with my X2's front box? Help and pics would be great, thanks..

Ok let me try again. I have on my 550 X2 the same front lock and ride storage box that comes on all of the Touring models, and all of the XP550/850 limited addition models. Does anyone have a polaris rack extender on theirs?

I have a 2011 550 X2, and with the lock and ride box I put on it, a rack extender would interfere with the top headlight. This might be why you are having a hard time finding one (because it would not be popular due to the problem with it blocking the headlight).

A guy I know on another forum is looking for the same thing, and has been looking for quite a while with no success. I think it would be a huge seller it someone made one. I would like one as well. I can't imagine that blocking the pod light would be a concern. Might get a shadow from the bar, but who cares. If you have something strapped on there, take it off for a night ride.

I saw a wheeler for sale locally that had a metal rack extender mounted on the top of the box. I looked at doing this on mine too. I have composite extender. I never pursued it. I think the metal rack was bent to make the holes line up???

Or make a split, 2 piece version...so just a couple L-shaped extenders, one on each side (open in the middle for the headlight). Then it would work for the headlight when not loaded, and have enough of an extender to hold and tie stuff down to when loaded....

rack extender on top of the lock and ride box would sit up pretty high blocking the third light. Drilling the thin plastic on the box to mount the extender would maybe cause more problem's then it would be worth...I'll stick to bungees to strap anything down on top of the box!

Who cares if it is in front of the third light? I take it off at night. Not a problem. You could mount it to the aluminum frame in the lid of the box, so I don't see any thin, plastic box mounting issues. Just sayn', I think they would be a huge success if somebody carried them.

Most universal rack extenders mount using u bolts.

Bought mine for 40$ on eBay!

You can just drill holes through the box (I know that scares alot of people, but that's an option!)

And use the u bolts!
