Yeah, it is very disappointing. It almost makes me want to sell/trade mine for another brand. I know all brands have their issues/horror stories, but it seems like Polaris has a lot of them. This post is not to bash Polaris, just to share my experiences. I browse forums for other brands too, and they have their own issues as well. One of the biggest things that persuaded me to buy a Polaris was the ride. Can-Am at the time didn't have power steering. I rode a 2010 Can-Am with P/S and it was much different than the pre-P/S units. Makes me think.....

They said all these things about the RZR-S that I owned. The axles pop out. The air box takes in dirt and the motor blows up. I had none of these problems. And I rode all the side by sides and the S rode the best. They are saying these things about the 850 xp and its the best riding quad out there. I rode all the other brands before I rode the 850 xp and its the best riding and well thought of quad. I will probably have these problems also but I will deal with them. I don't think there is another quad out there now to compare to the 850 xp. I know. I know the can-am's power and speed. But I really don't think its well rounded like the 850 xp is. Just my 2 1/2 cents. I am not Polaris loyal. I owned alot of other quads and older Polaris quads also. But with this new design of the XP I think its the best one out there.

To me, there is no other ATV taht rides like the 550/850. It just disheartens me that they have had a lot of issues and it makes me uneasy when I get off deep on some trails that I may not make it back on my own power. I have had to, and will most likely continue to deal with the issues...I just wish I didn't have to.

And last, but not least, I have had an issue with the power steering since July..the P/S became hard at times..almost like the unit had no P/S, the electric motor vibrates hard enugh hat it can be felt in the handlebars. I took it to 3 dealers..each technician felt the vibrations..said it was normal..even when I asked them to compare mine to new units that didn't have ther vibration mine had. All felt their units and still said it was normal. I tried to go through cuystomer service for some help...what a joke they are.. I became frustrated and let it go for a while. I finally took it to a dealer 60 miles from my home and within 30 seconds...literally... their technician said it wasn't right. The P/S motor needs replacing. This dealer has been great and contacted Polaris and they have agreed to supply a new motor, as the issue was documented 3 times under warranty, but I am responsible for the labor. Don't get me wrong, I am greatly relieved that this dealer actually has a competent technician that immediately agreed that it was not right and that Polaris is supplying the motor. However, I still feel that Polaris should cover the labor too. This problem was well documented while it was under warranty. I have called Polaris customer service twice about this issue..and again what a waste of time. I have a letter waiting to be mailed to Polaris, but I am not sure which department to send it to. I have viewed their website and there are several persons listed for various areas of their corporate ladder. Anyone have any suggestioins???

I think my power steering is messed as well. When i turn on the machine and even at idle, it turns hard until i go a little bit. It's always been like that since new. I rode cableguys this weekend and his wasnt like that

you better get it to a dealer and get that EPS fixed, if you go out of warranty that unit is $1200.
