Help, is my bearing is bad? 2010 550XP
well i put the atv on a jack to tighten the suspension up a little and i noticed there is a very little play in the front right wheel. the left side is solid. does this mean my bearing is going? there are only 32 miles on the machine. i just bought it....if so does it make this unsafe to ride? im talking about maybe 2cm of play. zero play on the other side though.

If it is a bearing, the more you ride it the worse its gonna get, since its a new machine I'd get the dealer to fix it. Just my .02

they usually have just a little play, i'm surprised the other side doesnt have any at all. To feel better, you can have your dealer look at it, i'm sure it's okay though

i'd really rather not have to load it up. im an hour away from the dealer. or more depending on traffic. I called and they said they usually have a little play in them but bring it in and the will check it out. said may just need to be tightened. I know on a vehicle you dont want any play....thatss where im wondering if the bearing is bad...

I did pull the wheel off and take a closer look. it is not the bearing rather theres a little play up and down above the hub assebly where it meets the upper a-arm joint. in that joint is where i get more like a 1/16th up upward movement before the suspension takes over. is that atleast normal??

there should be no free play in anything BUT the wheel bearing on a 32 mile xp. what you describe seems to be the ball joint moving up and down in the knuckle like what the recall was for. early 2010 where part of the recall,i would have the dealer check it for free play.
