XP Winch / Plow Help / Suggestions
Hey guys,
I have a 2010 XP 550 EPS that I am in the market to put a winch on. I am new to utility quads so I wanted to ask some basic questions. Right now I only have enough money to buy the winch but come fall I will be looking for a plow. Are the winches specific to the plows or can I buy any winch now and it will work with any plow? I would also like input on the winches out there. My budget is $500 for the winch. A buddy bought one of the ebay viper winches and it does ok but the cable has tons of creases/bends in it after only a few uses. It also doesnt have the thing that makes sure the wire spools evenly back onto its spindle. Basically I need schooled on winches. I think the best bet in plows in the Polaris Glacier system so if I go that route do I need to buy the Polaris winch? Also the Polaris winches say they are made by Warn but when I look around the non polaris branded Warns seem to be more expensive? Again, any input is much appreciated!

Any winch will work with any plow. And for the best winch i would suggest warn or the polaris 3500. the warn t30 is the winch made by warn for polaris.and the polaris 2500 and 3500 are polaris winches made by polaris. I got the 3500 winch from polaris and never had a problem and has plenty of power. plus if you get a warn make sure you get a synthetic cable they last and they wont kink and bend like cable. if you get a warn or polaris winch they will come with a roller fairlead. for 500 bucks you can get a real good winch. if you have the $ get the remote control its awsome!! warn and polaris both have them.

If the quad has the front brush guard, get synthetic rope instead of wire cable. The wire will rub and damage the front brush guard when you raise and lower the plow. With synthetic, this is not an issue.
Plow will work with any winch, but I recommend the Warn XT30:
XT30 Extreme Terrain Winch
Cheers,
KL

I like the XT30 however I dont think it comes with the mounting brackets? So on top of the $550 price tag wouldnt I also have to buy some type of mounting setup?

I have the same quad 2009 Xp550. I went to place a 3500 synthetic rope winch on it, priced it from Polaris is was around $500 to $550 as I recall. I went on ebay and the exact same winch cost me about 375.00 including shipping, I actually called this place and ordered the winch instead of going through ebay, I had the winch in about 3-4 days after paying for it. I have not ventured into a snow plow yet since I already have one on my Polaris Magnum.
Here is the web address and phone number where I bought the winch. BreeseLawnGarden items - Get great deals on RZR ACCESSORIES, 05-10 SPORTSMAN 500 700 800 items on eBay Stores!

I have looked before at Breese on eBay and their online store. They do have good prices and products, but unfortunately they don't ship to Canada which is where I live.

F.Y.I warn makes the winches for polaris! and the only differince between the rt and the xt warn winches is that the rt comes with the steel cable and the xt with the synthetic cable. if you buy the rt and the sythetic cable u get both cables for less money! but the best thing about the synthetic cable is it doesnt fly at you when it snaps
