210 550 intermittent EPS warning light

I might have known telling someone my EPS sounded and worked great was a bad idea. Next morning I get an intermittent EPS warning light (and engine icon). It "might" be that the steering stiffens up, as well, but it's only happened at higher speeds. It's only come on twice in the same morning and doesn't come up when I start it so it doesn't throw code. Anyone out there have the same issue in the past?

I just purchased an '10 850xp eps today. First 15 minutes were fine, then I had the engine light come on and then EPS light with very same symptoms as yours. Also, I noticed my speedometer was not functioning it continued to read 0. Did you find a solution. I hate to have to run it back to the dealership with only two hours on the machine. Very disappointing start to EPS ownership.

I was in high gear coming up a slight grade. I would not say I was getting into it because I was trying to take it real easy with breaking it in. I then stopped read the book a few minutes and tried to run in low for a while and it did it then also. I think it is more RPM driven than H/L driven. I did go under the front cover and push a few connectors in to make sure tight and it worked fine for about 100yds then did the same thing again.

mike did you check your battery bolts? they come loose a lot on the xp if you do not use some blue loctite on them and can be the cause of many electrical problems.

I poked around and found my battery terminals slightly loose. They didn't seem loose enough to effect anything, but the problem never returned after tightening them properly.

I had the same thing happen to me on my 550xp just yesterday. It only has less than 5 hours on it! I turned the engine off and restarted it and everything has been fine since then. Kind of disappointing on a new machine to see that engine light come on. I will post again if it comes back.

Anyone else have ideas?

I broke in an took mine to the dealership. They had to replace the speed sensor. The EPS fades out with either speed or RPM and this is controlled by the speed sensor. Apparently because mine was malfunctioning, it would not fade but simply shut the EPS off suddenly.

Same thing happened on my 2009. Got those battery bolts tightened down and the issues went away. I put some of those star rings under my bolt heads to stop them from backing out, and after 500 more miles, they still haven't backed out.
