Riding Trails

It would be nice if the "Riding Trails" were organized by state or sections so the viewers could easily find riding areas where they live or travel to. I believe by having information would possibly rally more people to explore new riding areas. Listing area campgrounds might be a welcome addition. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Yep, that would be amazing, but don't hold your breath.. Bought a place in the country 4 years ago with miles and miles of land around me, and I had heard from locals that atv's are a common sight.. Always wanted one, so I got one.. New to the game, I took my then brand new 2010 850 Touring and went looking for trails and found some near my home.. Perfect!, I thought.. Well later that day I was almost lynched by a land owner who's land I didn't realize I was on.. Tried to apologize and reason with the guy but he would have none of it.. Lesson learned, so I joined a club.. Seems that most land within a couple hundred km's/miles of any populated area is not public, and we are not welcome there.. Most trails system's whether private property or operated by a club are heavily guarded secrets.. Lack of places to ride without the fuss of loading up and driving an hour to the trails is probably the one thing that would make me give up the hobby.. Life is busy and I rarely have a full day to dedicate to a ride.. I have a few acres of my own so I can putter around my place a bit but, it would be nice to just go for a rip on the land around me.. However as it is with most freedoms these days, the bad apples have made that impossible.. You know who I mean.. The guys that go ripping up fields, running across peoples back yards and leaving garbage and beer cans behind.. To make a long story longer.. I agree it would be great to know where all the trails are in an area. But until atv trails become like snowmobile trails (not in this lifetime) most of us will have to settle for riding the same ole' club trails over and over again.. We truly are the black sheep of recreational motor sports.. But what a great sport it is!..

ridin' sinner? !

Hey. I absolutely agree.. We are welcome in very few places. Landowners have a preconceived notion that we are all 17 yrs. old and are going to trash their property.. What i did was befriend my neighbors who are almost all farmers by getting to know them while they were out workin the fields.. Talkin about their machines, then asking if i could skirt the side of their fields on my way through.. Some said no, most said yes.. I think the point is if you are visible and they can recognize you, it might make them feel more comfortable with you on their property.. HOPE IT HELPS!!!

Same story here. I bought a place out away from the city and enjoyed riding all over. Then 'Big Brother", aka the U.S. Forest Service, sets up a roadblock during our clubs ATV Poker Run. The "Law Enforcement" Nazi starts ripping people about not being STREET LEGAL! In 20 plus years of riding an ATV I have never been stopped by a LE officer of any kind on the streets or sideroads. Now we have to have a street legal quad to ride in the woods! He also was threatening to ticket the young people who didn't have a drivers license......needless to say some of the out-of-staters said they would not be coming back. The ride proceeds goes to the Shriners hospital in Spokane. The FS is also now taking over some of the trails we have used for years and developing a "Travel Plan" ......guess what that means.

Also in Florida. Have you found any good places to ride? We've done Ocala, Croom and Durhamtown Plantation. Hatfield-Mccoy is calling us later this month!

Riding in Vernon Florida

As I said, it would be nice if legal places to ride in different areas of the US had a dedicated place to post. This is a fun place in the Florida Panhandle to camp and ride. They also will issue a day pass to ride only, but there are not additional charges to ride when camping. We have found a great RV park and campground in Vernon, Florida with 600 plus acres of great ATV and side by side riding trails with many miles of surrounding dirt roads. There are multiple lakes, (low water levels at this time), located all around the property. The beautiful Holmes Creek, additional lakes and boat ramps are nearby. There is also good fishing, bicycling, hiking and relaxation here. There are even horse pens and dedicated horse trails located here. There is a strict speed limit of 5 MPH in the campground area and a 10:00 PM quiet time, but the many trails can be rode responsibly and respectfully. When horses are present, please respect and do not spook the animals. Hell raising here will not be tolerated, but clean and great fun is encouraged. Following a few simple common sense rules here will assure many great camping and riding times for the future. This place is very lax for responsible people. There is plenty of mud in this area. We are there most weekends. Avoid the private and posted properties in the area and be respectful of the hunters on private land surrounding some of the property. Unfortunately there is no hunting allowed, but the abundant wildlife is astounding. The campground only charger $20.00 per night including water and electric, or $30.00 per night for concrete pads with 50 amp and sewer full hook up. There are also rental 2 bedroom 2 bath town houses and a cabin available on site. There are men and women bath houses and washing machines on the property. Reservations are recommended but most likely not necessary. The park managers Linda and Billy are great people. This is a family oriented quiet place that hosts quite a few events. This may be one of Vernon's best kept secrets. It is a little ways off the beaten path. Please respect each other and the environment here. This nice campground is quite private with very beautiful grounds with plenty of large oak trees and cypress. Contact Linda at (850)773-3992 and tell her Ron from RV Trax sent you from the Black Water ATV club. The address is 3900 New Jerusalem Road Vernon, Florida 32462. Visit the website at Location Please be responsible and respectful so we all can enjoy now and in the future. Thanks.
