2011 ride dates for Sandtown Farms Ranch located in the Ozarks just north of Batesville, Arkansas. Parking area GPS Coordinates: N35 54 22.5 W91 38 06.5
March 26th - Early Spring ride. Usually daffofills and other early blooming plants everywhere about then as well as a good time to get a chance to see the local Eagles.
June 11th - Summer ride. Warm weather, warm enough to jump in the creeks even, but not too hot yet and everything in full late spring/early summer foliage.
August 27th - Late summer ride. This is the one we started with three years ago. Plenty warm that we stop at a couple of swimming holes to cool off along the way, yet it's not as hot as mid-summer.
October 22th - Fall Colors in the Ozarks ride. Cooler temperatures and Awesome Colors.
All rides are free and open to everyone but we do have a limit of 15 machines so RSVP early. These dates may be subject to change but as of now this is the schedule for the larger, more organaized pre-scheduled rides. We will also have a couple of smaller rides such as the Advanced Ride for advanced riders only, the Gettin Extreame Ride for really advanced riders with larger 4x4 machines, and the Geologic Exploration ride for those who want to stop and explore the caves, sinkholes, abandoned mines, quarries, and other unique geologic features of the Ozarks. Those dates will be determined later. We also welcome groups who would like to schedule a private ride and we're often around just to go out riding randomly with indvividuals. A few locations for rustic trail-side and creek-side camping are available as well as two places where you stay closer to the house and hook up to water and power. We will post individual ride notification reminders with any new details for that particular ride once we are within about a month of each individual ride.
Each ride is guided and ranges from aproximatally 60-80 miles in total length. We start at 9am and usually get back around dusk. During the summer rides we sometimes continue with a night ride following the days main ride. We usually pass by an almost hundred year old general store where we often stop to pick up sandwinches or you can bring your own snacks. We believe that adult riders should be able to make their own choices with what they are comforatable with so we allow riding double and do not require helmets except for minors under 18 per state law. The rides are totally free, we do this because we enjoy the sport, but we also do all of our own trail maintinance and that is a large expense each year so if you had a good time and would like to help out with a donation it will be greatly appreciated no matter how large or how small.
