Live in Colorado? Can I ask you some Q's?

Im thinking about moving to colorado. Possibly the Boulder, Denver, or Colorado Springs area. I will be fresh out of college, so basically no money saved up, and will be looking for my first real job. Is housing affordable enough that a new person to the real world can get a foothold down and get started in? Do you like living in Colorado in general? Any reason to avoid those areas or any other great areas to look at?

I have been to Denver, and I have been to Colorado Springs before, and thats it. But I thought it was a beautiful state and am seriously considering it as a place to start my adult life after school.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks all

lol, i dont have an atv, too broke. that is strictly a play toy. I have a street bike though! Got a truck that gets 10mph but 4x4 for the snow, i have a car that is 2 doors and 4 cylinders for the better gas mileage, and i got a sportbike for some fun that gets even better gas mileage.

But that is another attraction to colorado. After i get some money, i am very interested in playing in the mountains.

Colorado was always my pick for a place to live. That was 30 years ago now and here I am in Dallas. A long way from where I thought I might end up. Colorado has changed a lot since then. On the East slope, where the jobs are, the air gets pretty bad in the summertime - especially in Denver. Then there is the tourist traffic you have to deal with. There is the cold and snow, but to me that was never a big deal. I like cold weather and welcome it. Housing is a little high, but not so much that its oppressive like some east coast states or Minnesota. You might get on atvquadsquad and ask those guys the same question. They are mostly Colorado residents, but I hang out there too.

What is your degree in. If its technical I may be able to get something going for you in the Denver area. No promises though !

Thanks Bukaty for the response. I am definently okay with the cold and snow. Right now I have been living in the U.P. of michigan were we often have a high of single digits and 220" or more of snow a year, and I dont mind it at all actually. I will definently get on the other site and ask around.

My degree will be industrial/product design. So a little different then engineering in that we dont usually work out the tiny details like an engineer would. We are more about form, function, ergonomics, uses, materials, ect. and let the engineers figure out how exactly it will be built and work. I can elaborate more if needed. I do a lot of hand sketching, but also use adobe photoshop and illustrator, rhino 3d, and am currently teaching myself solidworks.

There are a couple firms down in those areas that I am attracted to, and am working on getting together a portfolio of my work so that I can start reaching out and making connections. Any word on the street, tip, or connection is greatly appreciated, but I wont hold you to anything.

Gates rubber company has a headquarters in or around Denver. They manufacture belts, hoses, hydraulic fittings and hoses. I don't know about there but good employees are hard to find. What I have found is most people can't pass the drug test and the others want a high salary to start out at. So I think as long as you are a good worker and can pass a drug test you should be able to get a job anywhere. I love the south myself. Good luck. If you are interested in a job at Gates send me a PM. I am good friends with a Gates rep. Thanks
