Hello Denver!!!!

After recently graduating with my bachelor degree in Industrial Design from a small university in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, I have finally made it to Denver. But it has been a trip for sure!

My girlfriend and I left Michigan almost two weeks ago in my 1987 Chevy 1500. We left late the first day and got into Minneapolis that night. My truck started making a grinding sound every time I let off the gas or pressed in the clutch. We stopped for the night, parked the truck, and just slept. The next morning I checked all the fluids on my truck, and noticed my tranny was a quart low, so I topped it off, and we continued on the road. It quickly got really bad, and I only made it 20 more miles before I exited off the freeway and limped it into a shop. It got to the point where twice when stopping at a light, with the clutch in, the tires just locked up and skidded to a stop at about 10mph.

Turns out I smoked the ring gear and pinion gear because my pinion nut worked its way off the drive shaft, allowing the two gears to basically destroy one anther. The shop found another driveline, but it was 2 hours away and needed to be removed from the junkyard vehicle before it could be shipped. So we had to sit in Minneapolis for 7 days before my truck was fixed again! We did make it to the Mall of America for a bit, but otherwise we just walked around the block locally and slept a lot.

$1200 later I got my truck back, and we drove all night the 1,000+ miles from Minneapolis to Denver. We hit a few nasty storms in Des Moines, Iowa, and some more storms in Nebraska.

With any week we will be able to secure an apartment and job within a week. Currently I am living in a hotel.

Loving the Denver area so far! I am excited to see what is in store for me.

[I do apologize to everyone who has PM'ed me with questions. My days are filled with looking at places and looking for jobs. Please be patient with me, and I will try to answer your questions when I have some more time and everything settles down.]

Good to hear you again Blueline. Once you get set up and pull down the big bucks, you can start selecting your new ATV. Rocky mountians have some breathtaking places to ride. Best wishes to you as you settle in. Keep us posted on your adventure.

I know! Its one reason why I picked here. I love the mountains. I can't wait to actually buy my first machine and go get dirty in the mountains! I appreciate the comments!

Thanks! I am excited to be here. The old Chev wasnt too happy with me putting over 1,000 miles on her without stopping. Truck problems happen, I am glad its behind me now.
