Do you really go to Taylor for just a weekend? I could maybe do that if it was a 3 day weekend, but no way could I just do a 2 day'er.

weekender's at Taylor always are at least 3 days. we have gone up Friday mornings and get back home Sunday evening, or gone up Friday evening and get home Monday afternoon. we try to do a 5 day stay once a year there, but work will not allow any more than that, thats a bitch being self employed..... would really like to find a few other people to do a trip there with...its usually just me, my wife and son. my riding buddy got killed in a car wreck here a few years ago, so i am stuck riding with my wife all the time....

I see your wife rides a 550 xp. She must be really nice! ( ok we have a 550 touring ). Spring or summer for snow amounts, is a long ways off. Hate to have to wait but not much else to do. Lots of people talk about how great Taylor is. Only been there once fishing a LONNNNG time ago. Would like to meet a bunch of you folks and go riding. Bobx2 knows and rides with several members from what I gather. Keep in touch. I think Mitt wants to go also. You work for yourself? doing what if I may ask. I was self employed electrical contractor for 15 years. No more.

My wife and I take a week vacation every summer to go camping and ride. Twice we have gone to Taylor Park and planning to go there next summer as well. Mid to late July is when we like to go. Any earlier than that and you risk some of the passes still being closed by snow drifts. Also hoping to make another guys trip out to Moab this spring. Amazing riding out there. These pictures are from our trip out there this past May.

The wife also loves Moab, so I will have to try to get out there once a year with her also. when guys go it's a little easier. Just sleep in a tent. When wife goes, load up toy hauler and drag it over the mountains. About a 5 1/2 hour drive from Denver area.

we are planning on a trip to Taylor sometime in July also, would love to hook up with others as a group there. we just sold our 18' Thor toy hauler . we custom ordered a new forest river stealth 24' toy hauler. it will be arriving in Denver first of Feb. cannot wait to get it. moab sounds like a possibility but it depends on my wifes work schedule. i am pretty flexible being self employed... keep in touch and maybe we can get together for a meet at taylor...ed

Thanks, Bobx2. I remember St Elmo. It was beautiful up there 20 years ago. I also remember the road up to Mount Antero. It takes off from the road to St Elmo. I took my truck up there awhile back and it was awesome. It would have been a great trip for an ATV, so that will be on my list.
Thanks to everyone for the ideas. I think I will fall in love with Colorado again. :-)

It's still beautiful up there. It's a must ride area that's made for atv's.

Wow, Bobx2 was the last one here way back on the 26th of Dec. Hello ? ( echo, echo ... ) My wife and I went camping/riding with a friend of ours last summer up at Gore Pass. He pretty much grew up hunting and fishing that whole area. Lot of trails to be sure and I know we didn't even scratch the surface. There is one that is only 13 miles long. Can't remember the name of it. But you talk about a great ride! Up through the trees, across several high meadows full of wild flowers, deer and elk. Only way to get there is either walking, atv/motorcycle or horse back. Didn't even get to the other end. Started WAY to late in the day on a trail we didn't know. Our friend had never been on that one either. Got about half way . We are going to try and get back there this coming summer. summer can't come fast enough.
