You are in luck! Your ignition does not require DC power to function - it is self excited. The spark is killed by connecting the CDI module black wire to ground.
If you unplug the black wire and the engine runs, the problem is in the kill circuit. If there is no spark with the black wire disconnected, the problem is in the ignition system.
Unplug the black wire from the CDI unit and let us know the result.
Oh yeah, didn't think about unhooking the ground wire. That would actually be the FIRST thing to try.
