Iím just saying like others ,, a radiator that covered will not cool your engine even if the thermostat is open and working, it has to be able to have air flow through it, I personally would put it back together and retest it.. you should have been able to seen it bein that nasty before tearing it all apart, the first thing anyone should do when diagnosing a overheat issue is washout the radiator and then see if the problem persist, one you go through the hassle of taking the thermostat apart your going to have to go buy a new gasket and my guess is someone will have to order it , and thatís more wait time
