priming oil pump

I have a 2010 sportmans 500 HO, how can I make sure the oil pump is primed? I do not if could I hear the rush of air the way the manual said to listen. Thank you for your help.

if you did an oil change and you didnt pull the plug and screen at the bottom of the oil tank, you don't need to prime the pump. If you did, pinch the line at the top of the tank that runs back to the motor when you start it, hold for 10 seconds or so, and it should be primed. I've never heard the rush, but i can tell oil is moving by just putting fingers on the lower oil line while it's running, you should be able to feel the oil running thru the hose. You can also remove the cap and shine a light in the oil tank while it's running, you should see some movement....

I prime after evety change, runs quiter. Clamp vise grips on, start it, let run for 20 seconds, shut off, remove vise grips... voosh.
