1999 Magnum 425 2WD

Hello, out on the trail, the ATV would not go into gear, after looking, it looks like the small sprocket was not spinning. I can see the "Driveshaft" was spinning. Any suggestions? This my first atv.

Either the splines in the sprocket wore out or the splines on the transmission shaft have worn out. Happens when they run dry with no lubrication - the sprocket case hardened and the shaft is hard - I've seen it go both ways and sometimes while only one is worn out, they both need replaced - it's a judgment call by the mechanic.
