KFI plow review

For the past few months, I've been in the market for a plow for my 2011 Sportsman 800. I was waiting for Warn to release their front mount plow, but they can't seem to fabricate a plow mount for the new Sportsman. I decided to try the KFI 60" straight plow for several reasons: It is made locally in Spring Valley, MN. It comes with a two year warranty. The plow is made from 11 gauge steel which is thicker than all other brands. Finally, the push tube come fully assembled.

First off, I called KFI and was pleasantly greeted by the receptionist who knew prices and part numbers off the top of her head. I then picked up the plow from the KFI shop in Spring Valley. Everything was sitting in front as they said it would be, and the paperwork was completed and waiting for me.

The first thing I noticed was how well everything was packaged. The boxes were thick cardboard taped and stapled shut. All hardware was in separate ziplock bags. No two pieces of metal were packaged touching each other. Installing the mount was simple due to the excellent instructions.

Now, I'm comparing this plow to my old Glacier II plow I used to have. I gotta say this plow is heavy duty! Everything about it is heavy duty. The mount is thick heavy metal. The push tubes are beefy. The hardware is larger bolts than I expected. Even the plow springs dwarf those on the Glacier II plow. The plow itself makes the Glacier plow look like sheet metal. I am sure glad I installed HD front springs on my Sportsman!

If this plow performs half as well as I think it will, I will be EXTREMELY satisfied. If anybody is wondering, the setup including the rubber flap was right around $530 including tax. Bring on Winter!

Every aftermarket plow is heavy duty compared to the Glacier II system. I'm sure the KFI will perform well for you, and most importantly... hold up with some use.
