Insurance

Well, after shopping around (about 6 different phone calls) I accepted the fact it would cost as much to insure my quad as it would my car. No shit.

I couldn't do it. Especially with so many of you paying such a small amount every year.

Naturally every time I'm towing it, I would start to ulcerate. Watch the occasional youtube ATV Crash Spectacle and I would ulcerate.

Then I saw this one:
Let me tell ya, when I saw the remains, I got to feelin' a little queesy.

That's it, I'm done ulcerating. I contacted USAA and had them work up a quote for my house, car, and quad. Outstanding. Switched from Allstate and now I'm ulcer days are behind me.

I dont have mine insured.

I ride careful, wear safety gear, and use my brain.

Up here insurance is around $1000 a year for full coverage. After 4 years I can buy a new atv. So it's not worth it.

Markel for ours as well. Similar pricing with additional coverage for accessories. No way would I not insure them. Don't care how safe and careful you think you are being. There is a reason they are called accidents. Have an accident and hurt someone when you have no insurance, there's a chance you will pay for the rest of your life.
USAA insures my home and autos, there's nobody better, but they are not the cheap way to insure toys and RV's, and they will tell you that outright. They know where the high risk is, and by discouraging it they can keep cost down on the big ticket items.

Everyone I checked with wanted about 1200 per year. I have an excellent driving record, just don't understand why it cost so much. Especially when I see so many others with low rates.

With USAA, I be paying about 500 for the year, fully covered. I can pay that without getting pissed off, it's a lot closer to reasonable.

You've checked with Progressive and Markel? I've never heard of them having high rates like that.

Progressive here,$100 a year full coverage.
Had a claim, totaled the bike , (at that time they informed me I only get $400 check for medical,Which I did not care about because my health INSURANCE COVERS it,but it did pay for the deductible's .
I had the checks BEFORE i got out of Hospital(4weeks later)
Then on top of that they sent me a GET WELL SOON card.
AND on top of that,,,, they never raised my rate.
Fricking love it
