slipping gear

i have a 05 sportsman 500 ho. i was out on it today, when running the dirt roads at full throttle, when i let off gas it would slip out of hi gear,i would have to stop ,put it back in hi and go again ,but on the slower tighter trails it worked great, does any one have any ideas before i go pay a dealer. tks
