2017 Sportsman 850 SP Headlight Removal

Hello All,

New to forum. My right front headlight on my 850 SP recently filled with muddy water. Rather than clean, I ordered a new headlight. Has anyone on this forum removed the front headlights from the vehicle. It has a screw tab on top and two side tabs that LOOK like they are just inserted in holes. I started to remove the headlight and the tab facing inward would not release from the hole and you can not get to it with your hands. Based on this I believe there is a screw that holds the inside tab. This would mean disassembly of a good bit of the front end which would basically mean Polaris wants you to bring to dealer for removal. There is no reason what so ever for a screw there except for that purpose. It was getting dark when I was working on this so I gave up for the time being. I am deciding on whether or not I feel like taking the front of the vehicle apart or bring it to dealer. If anyone on the forum has removed the right or left front headlights and has some insight on how to do please share the info so I can decide if I feel like doing it or fork over the money.

The OP has not been on here in almost 2 years. I think, maybe the light fixtures are fastened to the bumber. Remove the bulbs then the bumper to gain access to the light fixtures. That's the way my '15 850 is.
