Outer clutch cover damage

I have a 1996 Sportsman 400, 4x4 with only 450 miles. The clutch has rubbed a hole in the top and bottom of the clutch cover. I can't fine any movement in the clutch that would cause the damage. Looks as thou the cover is to small. I have ordered another cover but if something is causing the damage, would like to correct it before installing new cover. Help

A lot of time this is caused by broken motor mounts. Get a breaker bar to gently wedge the motor with to check all mounts to make sure none are broken.

Thanks for the info about clutch cover problem. Will check motor mounts in the AM.

Also getting mega stuck or pulling some one who is in high get will get it hot enough to melt the cover. Been there done that pulling a King Quad out of the mud to his gas tank..
