Arrow Maintenance Question

Hey all,

I just bought my 2012 Sportsman 500 HO Touring and it only has 1100 miles on it. I am unsure of the maintenance history so what would you guys suggest doing to the bike for preventative maintenance? I will do an oil change for sure but i'm unsure what to do after that.

Thanks,

keith

Thanks for the info. Once i get the service manual printed i will have at it!

What do you recommend for grease? Would you use all Polaris fluids or is the trusty Rotella T dino oil good to go?

Ive used both for engine oil (Polaris oil change kit or the same Rotella i throw in the 6.7L Cummins) didn't really notice a difference. When it comes to grease, id stick to Lucas Marine grease. It doesn't wash away as quick if you're in the water in my opinion holds up better.

I'd say he hit the nail on the head here.... Granted the Sportsman 500 is a nearly bullet proof machine, I always like to set a "maintenance base line" for the machine and myself. I too change engine oil / filter, air filter / pre-filter, check belt & clean clutches, change front differential fluid, change rear transmission / differential fluid(s), grease all suspension zerks and change the spark plug. Not to mention verifying everything works on the machine as it should (brakes, lights, suspension / bearing / bushing play, ect.).

Remember when changing oil to prime the pump correctly, if draining both tank and engine block (see link to oil change procedure below)!! And I yet to see a case where the oil tank screen needs to be cleaned....

Enjoy!!
