Poor Peformance After Diesel Incident

My mom accidentally put Diesel in two of our ATVs....

The Sportsman 570 I was able to get running smoothly again after siphoning the tank, draining the fuel lines, and running fresh gas through again. No issues.

The second bike (Bigboss 800 EFI) runs after I've done all of the above but has no torque/acceleration anymore.

It struggles to get up hills and can barely hit 30mph. Is there any suggestions on how to begin attempting to resolve this issue? I'm worried that there is Cylinder/Piston damage after I was running the bike at 5000rpm in neutral before I knew the reason it wasn't running is because Diesel was poured in it. It would of been a half gas/half diesel mixture.

Thanks for the help....

I'd guess you didn't do any damage but why didn't you change the fuel filter(s)?? We own a 800 6x6 as well which is purely a work machine.

Nice to have you here with us Kyle.

Hello. Thanks for the response..

I forgot to mention I changed the in-tank pre filter on the Sportsman 570. I ended up having to change the fuel pump and regulator as well. Do you think the filter would cause this type of issue after diesel was in the tank?

Someone more knowledgeable than I, needs to answer that question. Nonetheless, sounds like you have a fuel restriction and the filter is the most obvious fix.

EFI may need several restarts to adjust for the change in fuel quality. I would drain the fuel tank again and put a couple gallons of non ethanol fuel in and try again - if no improvement, might need to replace the fuel pump.

Update

Update: Changed the oil and changed the sparkplugs. Seems to be running as normal now. Plugs were quite fouled from the diesel I imagine. Will be running SeaFoam in the gas tank and crankcase indefinitely as a result. Thank you for the help.

Thanks for the report Kyle. Glad its running good for you now. On a side note. We only occasionally run our machine, so the fuel sits in it for a bit and it will go bad. So we we keep it stabilized with seafoam. Good stuff.
