Power steering issue in 4x4 only. Help!

Hello,

I have a 2016 Polaris Sportsman 1000 Touring LE and the power steering unit was recently replaced by the dealer but Iím still having an issue. Power steering works in 2x4 but once you move the selector into 4x4 it stops working. I canít for the life of me figure out why. Anyone ever experience this issue?

From what I've read, they all do it. Something about the geometry of the front suspension could be damaged if turned too far with PS.

Do a search on Power Steering and a few threads will come up talking about it.

Try it without ADC turned on. I have an xp1000 2018. When I have the ADC on, and going down hill or off the throttle, it steers hard.

I rarely use ADC just for this reason. Only when it is really steep and slick do I turn it on.

That is just the way it is when all four wheels are engaged at the same time. Try turning a Yamaha grizzly with the differential lock on.

I've never had my machine steer hard at any time and I've been in just about every situation, terrain and configuration you can name or imagine. If the EPS ever cut out I didn't know it!

I doesn't cut out. Just steers harder in a short corner. Try it on a really short switchback going down a steep downhill at full turn with no throttle on. Then try it again without ADC turned on. I have had an xp850 2012, an sp850 2015 and an xp1000 2018. They all do it with ADC turned on. With all 4 wheel engaged together your turning radii gets larger and the steering is effected.

Try it on the black top sometime with throttle off and ADC on. You will feel the difference.
