Which Oil Filter for 2005 1500 UTV 2x4

Having trouble figuring out what is the correct filter for my 2005 Polaris 1500 UTV 2x4. The manual says my engine is 653cc, not 500 like others. Auto stores seem to list filters for 500cc so not sure. The ones I have been sold do not work. Oil filter they sold me popped loose and dumped oil. Help!

Is this a Ranger? I'm not sure what it is, the 1500 makes no sense.

This must be a Ranger 700. The motor size was around 680cc.

Does that sound right to you. Maybe post some pics of it?

After you determine what you have go to www.wixfilters.com and click on filter look up.
Some popular wix filters for Polaris include 51358,51356,51357. I bet it will be one of those.
Find you vin and run it to determine the exact year and model.

2008 Dodge Caliper
2010 Chevrolet Equinox
2004 Honda ForemanES 400 4x4
(Currently I don't own a Polaris but I work on them all the time and get to ride cutomers for test rides. Maybe soon I will be a Polaris owner.)

I am at the lake and not near my paperwork so it is very possible I am not remembering correctly. This is one of the early yellow colored work series that Polaris came out with. It is a 2x4 and I seem to remember the TM, which was red in color was the same thing.

Edit, the Wix 51358 def does not fit, it is the same as the filters I got today.

I forgot to tell you Fram filters are junk. I wouldn't put one on my wheelbarrow.
It bet you need a 51357.

I did go to the Wix site. The problem is I'm not sure exactly what I have. They don't list a 653cc engine, only 600, 700 & 800. I thought my motor was 500cc. the only reason i came up w the 653 was a pdf manual i downloaded tonight for a 2005 Ranger said the TM was 653cc. Clearly this is not going to get sorted til I have more info on my rig. But I am pretty sure the 51358 does not fit since it cross referenced to the K&N 303, which does not fit. Ugh!

Look on the machine itself. Dont believe everything on the Internet. U ever seen the commercial about the French model. Lol.
The hood should have 500,700,800 on it. Polaris dont make a 1500. Are u positive it is a polaris.
A 1500 is a Chevy silverado or GMC Sierra, or a Dodge pickup.
Post a pic.
Find the vin and there is a link on this site that you can use to run it and find out exactly what you have.

Wow, you actually have a TM. Those are rare!

A 2005 Ranger TM with a 653cc motor does make sense now. If that's the case the OEM filter number is 3088311. That brings up a problem, the only machines that use this filter or a 2004 2005 2006 Ranger TM, and a Series 11 "UTV 1500 2x4" model #C11RB63AA which honestly I've never even heard of.

A search on Wix's site turned up negative using that filter number. With this filter being used only on these machines, it's likely the market isn't big enough for them to make one, and so OEM might be your only option.

Well I guess that explains why I have had so much trouble. So I guess I can forget finding one on Sunday in the mountains. I will call the dealer on Monday and hope they have one. My rig is dead in the open until I can oil it back up. Thx for the help.

Interesting that they put a bigger engine in the 2x4. You would think you would need less power. I only have 82 hours on the rig. Try to take good care of it.

Edit, Yes, I thought it was called a UTV 1500 2x4
