UPDATE! I checked the carb and the floats was out of adjustment and uneven so i straightened them up and pushedthe lil tab down so that the arms sit parallel. I also put the new 280 jet in. Now that i have done that it still cuts out. Does anyone think that the reed gasket maybe leakin? I read in another topic a few ppl had similar issues and corrected it by puttin a new gasket on with rtv silicone sealent. I dont know what else to do. I took it out for a ride yesterday and it took almost 30 mins of riding before it started cutting out.

Sounds like your floats are sticking. What kind of carb is it and what kind of Polaris do you have?

Carb puking gas

My son just bought a used 2000 Scrambler 500, and we have been trying to chase down some carb problems with it. The Carb is puking gas into the air cleaner. We've taken it apart, and cleaned it. We read the advice on carb problems here, but haven't made any head way on this. We adjusted the brass fitting on the float, thinking it was filling to much, but that didn't seem to work either. He is taking it apart as we speak, and we are going to try and clean the needles again. If anyone else has had this problem, I would really appreciate any advice!! Thanks, Mac

heres a question i have a 94 trailboss 350 4x4 now when i got it was running like crap, cleaned the carb 3x on the last 1 i noticed that the main jet was a size 105, i think i seen somwhere it is stock at 140 or 145? is this true? so i got a size 140 jet from a buddy and put it in, first the jet's where not the same, but both fit in the carb, i think 1 might be longer then the other, 1 i needed a small socket to get it out, the other i needed a flat head to get it in, im kinda new to this, so is this right? i had it up at 8k ft, it ran pretty good for a bit then after half an hour, ran like crap, good in the low ranges, but would die in wot, so im guessing its the jet right?

3) Needle - normally these all come from the factory with the clip in the middle position
4) float arm - should be set parallel to the carb body when held upside down and resting static on the float needle
5) throttle cable - should have 1/4" of free play (I like mine a little tighter than this)
6) choke cable - 1/8" of play
pilot jet is not just idle it supplys fuel from idle to 1/4 throttle
