polaris runs rough 1/4 throttle

Hey guys new member my sons polaris had been sitting several years because bolts back out of stator and chewed up stator and flywheel just got one from ebay used installed it runs perfect but at 1/4 only when hot breaks down. It seems like spark but only after about 1/2 hour of driving new plugs carb is clean any ideas would be great thanks again

Check the air box for a mouse nest and/or clean the carb - you said it sat for 2 years, but you didn't say if the carb and fuel tank were drained before it sat

Good call Latebird. If no nest I would double check the pilot jet as well. The bolts backing out on those machines must have been a common issue, I have repaired two of them with the same problem. Did you loctite the bolts?

Sorry, didn't pick up on the half hour part. Definitely sounds electrical in nature, could be a bad coil or spark plug cap(assuming it is a resistor cap), might also be the voltage regulator but i would think that would be problematic all the time, best I can offer, there are lots on here with far more knowledge of electrical systems than me, hopefully someone can help you resolve the issue.

Good luck.

thanks, i can try a coil next I guess but much-appreciated hate to drop it off at a shop when it takes so long to get hot before it happens

Check carb and clean jets. Phoenix 200s are notorious for clogging if you let them sit for a month so even two years might clog them as well.

'08 Polaris Phoenix 200

I keep seeing similar posts about this issue with no solutions. I too have the same issue going on with my sons phoenix. it ran great all through the throttle range then one day it died. Battery was almost to hot to touch and cdi split open. I replaced battery, cdi, coil, plug and wire and after this it started right up and I thought I had fixed it. However, it then would start and idle just fine but would act like its starving itself of either fuel or air and "stumble" when given any throttle. I then proceeded to replace the voltage regulator, pulled and cleaned the carb, tried different jet settings, drained the fuel tank, replaced the fuel filter and blew out the fuel and drain lines, cleaned the air filter, checked grounds, put dielectric grease in plugs, swore at it and still it persist on running the same. Anyone have any other ideas?
