Unhappy lots of oil in the air box

ok there is about half a quart in the box why? rode it about a month ago no problems, started it lastnight and checked everything over including air filter it was ok, looked in there today and its full of oil. it was never stood up or rolled, i searched and all i can find is some guy saying there is a check valve in the oil system that might be bad or stuck. the oil level is checked before every ride so its not over full. just wondering if anyone knows anything about this.

There is a check valve for the oil feed that is located in front of the crankcase, on the right side, under the water pump. It'll look like a drain plug that sticks out towards the front to the machine. Behind that plug is a spring and a check ball that could have a problem. The check valve is used to keep oil from draining out of the external tank, into the crankcase.

It's also worth a shot to do a compression test to see if you have excessive blow-by, specs are 85-90 PSI. Check the oil return line and vent hoses to the external tank as well.

Some oil in the airbox is normal. Bikes don't use a PCV valve, they just have a hose direct from the crankcase to the airbox. As your bike's oil heats up and sloshes around it vaporizes. The mist is carried into the airbox where it condenses and coats the inside of the airbox, sometimes enough to puddle a little. Don't worry about it if you can wipe it up easily with a small rag.

No, you didn't understand, half a quart of oil, it not just a coating...It's freakin bad!! I got the same problem, they are going to change the crankcase, piston and ring!
