Can anyone help

I just rebuilt my 2005 tld predator. I had removed the oil tank and did not prime it when i changed the oil today before i started it. I just followed the normal oil change procedure (ran fine before). After running for ten seconds a clanking noise started i shut it off immediately figured it meant it wasnt getting oil up top but did not know i needed to prime the line whenever the tank is disconnected. Does anyone have any ideas what the clanking noise is and should i try to start it again and prime the oil line or just have it torn down before anything else is broken? Thanks for any help
