I have to replace the Outer Tie rod end on my Sons 01 scrambler 500 4x2 on the drivers side - Can someone tell me once the bolt is removed which way does the Tie rod end unscrew from the shaft ? Looking at the Tie rod end does it come off clockwise or counterclockwise ?
The outers are LH threads. Break the jam nut loose BEFORE you take the bolt out. Hold the end with one wrench and turn the jam nut LH facing it... Like you'd ordinarily be tightening. OEM's should be 3/4 if I'm not mistaken. If you just turn the jam nut about 1/4 turn to break it loose, you can remove the old end and screw the new one right back on to the same spot without doing any further adjusting or measuring unless it was off bad to start with.
