Polaris 50cc scrambler.

My daughter's Polaris 50cc scrambler set up over the winter. It has fire and I've drained the mixed gas and cleaned the carb. I'm bypassing the oil injector by just adding the mixed fuel to the tank. It's a kickstart model and it has compression but it doesn't seem.to have enough travel for the kickstart. I couldn't help but notice a hole on the right side of the plastics. Did these come with electric starts and if so, what would I need to order to reinstall one? Thanks in advance.

Yes, they came with an electric starter and you can't 'bypass' the oil pump by just pre-mixing the gas and oil - the oil pump must be removed and the oil port on the carb capped.

If it set all winter and the carb was not drained, the carb probably needs to be cleaned - will it start on starting fluid? Does it have a new spark plug? It is not a 'kick start model' - the kick start was for emergency.

Not knowing what you have, you need a starter motor, starter clutch, battery, starter relay and a starter button - without knowing what you have or what is missing, if you bought all the electric start parts from Polaris before assessing what you need, it would be appx. $650 in parts to fix the electric starter. If you knew exactly what parts you need and bought them from a Chinese supplier, you could probably fix it for less than $200.

You were absolutely correct. Yes, it had everything for the electric start. I hooked it to a charger with the 12v jump setting and it did nothing. I'm sure the battery is dead but there was no clicking from the solenoid so I'll start by replacing it as the kickstart is just too difficult for my daughter. The oil light did come on until I filled it with amsoil 2 stroke synthetic oil. Any suggestions to order with the solenoid or would you start with that first? I saw where the brake cable is also a safety feature so I was thinking about ordering that too. Any suggestions are welcome.

The LH lever has to be pulled in for the electric starter to work - there is a switch on the lever that will prevent the solenoid from closing until the switch is activated - and the solenoid is just a relay with 4 terminals, usually under the seat.

Part number 0450555 $75 from Polaris - part number 31800-40B01 $34.50 from Suzuki - $6 on Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Starter-Rel...frcectupt=true
