Anybody try the Tusk warthog tires?

Rockymountainatv has a deal going with the purchase of four tires. You get an $80 credit. I went for it as the cost of all four tires was $300 even with free shipping and I get the card sometime later. Hard to pass up that kind of a bargain. If the tires work OK, I will be satisfied. One issue is I had to go to 27 inch so there will be some meat under the machine now.
Can anybody speak to this tire design? I would have gone with with big horns or ITP Terra Cross if I didn't see this deal. But the cost would have been double.

I have the new tires on and took a brief ride near my house. Not enough riding to tell how the tires will be. I can feel the steering is just fine and potentially better with the stiffer sidewall. Traction will be wayyy better. And they look beefy without being overkill. Simply put, I have a lot more tire now.

I like the looks of those, and 8 ply as well. They have good sidewall protection. Should be a good trail tire!

The 27x14x9 size is $99.45 ea at walmart.

27x14x9 is $110 at amazon.

They look good, but you have way to much air in them. Judging by your first picture, you are only riding on about 4" of the tread. Take them down to about 5 psi and take another look at the contact area. They will have much more traction, and a much softer ride when properly inflated.

Edit: Being a 27" tire on a 14" wheel, you will maybe have to run a little higher pressure than 5 psi, to protect your tires from pinch flats. Maybe 6-7 psi would be better. They look like you have 10-12 in them now.

Thanks for the reminder...the air is from the install. Good call. I will adjust later today.

A lot of companies out there contacting Chinese manufacturers who are already making these tires for others to then put their name on them and offer them at a lesser cost.
It would be nothing for an individual to create a brand and rent an indoor storage space. Alibabba has made it easy to contact over seas manufacturers and have them produce products for them. With little overhead they offer the same product as big name brands at lower costs.
I recognize this tire as very similar to the Kenda Bearclaw.
They look great

I am embarrassed to admit how much air I just let out so...I'll just move on! My goal with new tires was to get some more stability in steering and better traction. I also would like to have better protection against flats. I was thinking that I was going to have to spend at least $500 and likely $600 plus with install for tires so at the price I paid for these, I just need them to work a bit better than stock. The stock tires aren't terrible, they did the job just fine for me but I know you can improve performance with certain tires. I think I will be alright.
