520207 code help

Hello all, my first post, my first question. 2017 sportsman xp 1000 touring.

I was riding through some trails with my boys. CEL came on. I stopped, shut off atv, looked up code in display. Atv would not start. Found 20amp drive fuse blown. Swapped out with spare, all was good for 20 minutes. Then CEL came on, this time I didn’t shut off atv, checked code, same, drove back to park shop, bought 2 fuses and loaded up ATv’s. I knew it wouldn’t start when I got home, so I pulled blown fuse, pulled in shed and put it on lift.

Today I had time to investigate. First off the new fuse blew from my trailer to my shed. (200ft away) replaced it again and started testing. Came up with 3.32 volts at the connector that plugs into the connector that goes to the front gearcase coil. I swapped out the chassis relay, no change. Look at pics, I noted numbers on screen shots of repair manual.

Any help or suggestions would be great.

The pic with the error code has a 5 above and a 1 below. Not sure what those numbers represent.

After starting from scratch again, it turns out it was a bad chassis relay. The one I swapped out the first time was a bad one I must have saved from my son’s ace. 🤭😔

With old one in, code and engine light is on. With new relay it instantly goes away. Tested it by swapping a dozen times. Drove it and no issues!!!!

I’m sure there are 100 different reasons for it going bad. But I wanted to note a couple things.

1 I keep it in awd 99.9% of the time.
2 issue happened around the time I did put it in 2wd to fling some mud then back in awd.
3. 970miles on atv.

Hopefully this helps someone out there.
