250 mile service

Just completed the first service on the hunter. I changed all the fluids and greased all the fittings I have 250 miles as of right now. Getting ready for another trip to northern maine next weekend. Everything looked pretty normal but the rear Differential did have a lot of fines on the drain plug a bit more than the front diff and the transmission, I wonder if that is the cause all the gear noise I've been hearing. I mentioned it to my salesman last time I went to the dealer he said not to worry about it it's under warranty. He did say that it could be the primary the've seen them grooved form not using low range when towing and or bad casting, but I peaked in there not signs of wear blew out the clutch and reassembled it. Has anyone else noticed essesvie fines in the rear differential on the first service more then gear box or front diff?

The gears will wear in some. Change it again at about 50 hrs./500 miles and it should be good.

This is funny that my rear end is good has I been using Lucas synthetic gear oil but my front diff is so bad I change it every ride. I think I will go with Amsoil and see how it looks then .

How much are you using the ADC flyboy? If used a lot it needs changed every 25 hours or more.

I know the ADC is super bad on the front diff is why change it every ride with Polaris OEM front diff oil but I have tested it both ways using ADC a lot then none at all the oil still looks bad either way. I only have less than 300 miles on it so maybe it's still breaking in.

Ok, I've got around 2200 miles on my 18 and the front oil is a little dark each change but I have no appreciable wear showing on any of the magnets now. I change the front every 50 hours with the engine oil. I was originally changing the diffs and tranny every other engine change or 100 hours but the front was a little too dark for my liking at that long an interval. I use the ADC sparingly but I do use it when needed.

What engine oil do you use in the front diff ? Yes I think the black in the oil is the clutch material but I have my magnet full of metal ,I have Amsoil now so going give it a try.

I don't use any engine oil in the front diff. I use Demand Drive fluid. Engine oil isn't formulated for that job. It takes a hydraulic type oil
