Chug-A-Lug 850SP build

Hey Guys! I'm going to start a thread here to document the mods I add to my 18' SP 850. I have done the first few mods already but I am waiting for some parts later this week and next to finish most of what I will do for this year. I have noticed that this forum is sorta..."business" only and people don't really shoot the shit and mess around much. Well feel free to do some of that in here because I don't understand being uptight on a forum that's about learning and sometimes asking dumb questions

Right now I have the front and rear polaris bumpers on, as well as the 3500 rapid recovery winch. That rear bumper is a PIA getting the bottom screws into the connection plate...oh well I managed!

Coming from Babbitts already on its way
- Throttle warmer
- Grip Warmers (national backorder have to wait another couple weeks)
- Front/Rear A-arm guards

Sitting in the mailbox and I have to go get
-ODI lock grips with red rings and black grip

Coming in the next week or so..
-Battle Torn graphics kit

I ordered the updated cold weather relays because I had a huge PIA with my Ranger 900 holding a charge and starting in cold, but when I looked at mine today they were all the updated ones, so I am canceling those. On that note, I will be hooking up a fulltime CTEK connection to keep the battery tended at all times!

Next winter I plan on adding a plow, I think I will be going with a Boss V, which might also get me adding HD front springs or something similar.
I also want to add the center brake light, and will be doing that this summer probably. Want to add some more lighting at some point too, but won't be rushing into that as I will very rarely be out at night.

Will probably be reaching out on here for help with wiring ideas and whatnot.

Not sure why pics are all sideways!

Enjoy and feel free to offer advice or suggestions! I've never owned a quad before.

Looks good! I have the same bike only itís not an SP. I have the front bumper and rear rack extenders on mine. I also have a 12Ē combo flood/spot light bar on front. I want to add the rear bumper but havenít pulled the trigger on it yet. Next i will be changing tires. The stock tires SUCK for wear. Not sure what Iíll go with yet but will be ordering before summer and hard riding season starts.

Thanks! How are you liking yours? I found a leftover 18' or else I would have probably been on a smaller quad due to budget. Wanted the power steering and stuff so the wife can ride it no problem.

How does the 12 inch bar work, plenty of light?

I traditionally would go right at my tires and get something beefier...but I am going to need to do some yard work this spring so I am going to hold off on that until I get a feel for things. Do you ride mud or usually trails?

I love mine. Itís a 17. I got a steal of a deal on it back in September of 17.

The light bar does pretty good. Lights up plenty of area in front of me. I also forgot to add I did the third brake light and LOVE that mod. Way more visible from the rear.

I didnít want the PS simply because my 06 500 doesnít have it and didnít want to spoil myself on the 850 then never ride the 500.

Just ordered a KPI 2 inch hitch. I didn't like the idea of an adapter, and this hitch seems to do the trick, and have a nice solid mounting https://www.kfiproducts.com/101490-p...-receiver.html
I will be towing a compost spreader and maybe smaller utility trailer in the future.

Also put in an order for a Dusty Dawg rear carrier. I will use it to take a couple of my smaller dogs around the property, but also chainsaws and wood etc... Lead time will probably be 2-3 weeks from now, but I'm excited and it will be here just in time for the snow melt hopefully.

So I installed the throttle warmer today, need to get my heat gun from town to finish the shrink on the thumb, but all wired and runs correctly.

Question though: I went to the orange/white wire running to the cig outlet. Is that okay? Instructions say to find the white and orange and put the red to it so I did. But what happens when I need to add the grip warmers or lights? I can't keep adding to that same wire can I? I noticed a brown/red wire shrink wrapped at the end with nothing on it and also maybe a full orange one right next to it. What are those for? I can't find anything online.

If anyone has any info on wiring more attachments, photos would be especially helpful or links to other similar projects (not old ones that are different looking and will just confuse me thanks) that would be very welcome.

Attached pics just show the kit and final button.

Just a heads up on the hand warmers. I had the Odi lock on grips on mine too. Then when I added the Polaris hand warmers the Odi grips were not able to go over the stick on warmers. They were to tight. I had to go back to my stock grips. Let me know if it works for you.

Just FYI, I think all the newer machines come with a buss bar under the hood by the battery since everyone wants to add more electrical stuff. I will have to look at my 850 in the morning to be sure. If it doesn't have one, you should be able to add one to make hooking up accessories easier.

I have hand warmers for mine waiting for me to put them on. I went right to tires since I don't trust the OEM ones on the trails. 26" BearClaw HTRs all around. I have 325 machines for around the yard and a Ranger for the wife with her garden and flower beds. I am afraid the 850 will tear up the yard no matter what tires are on it.
