Hi,
First off im helping my dad out with his atv problem. recently his tool icon keeps flashing on his display screen so he had it looked at and they said his battery is overcharging. so the parts joint he went to ordered him a generic voltage regulator, and told him that its located up front under the mounted tool box thing.. we took it off and looked and i cant find anything that remotely looks like what we have in our possesion.
i think its located somewhere else but my dad insists the dealer guy said its up front. the only thing i can see is a big silver box that has an automotive style plug on it.. the part we have is smaller and has 2 yellows, 1 yellow/red wire, 1 red wire and 1 brown wire. any help is appreciated for im trying to save money by not haveing somebody just install it and have him pay out the nose.

where would this magical voltage regualtor be on the atv?

the tool icon is the service timer that comes on when bike service is due and can be reset. usualy every 100 hrs, nothing to do with over charging battery. the tool icon looks like a spanner and flashes for about 10 seconds when key is turned on.

it stays on all the time.. even when my dad plows it comes on and every now and then the lcd screen will go blank... it usualy happens when we use the winch.. which has to be used with the plow he has to raise and lower it.
