I went ahead and ordered a new throttle cable but I don’t see that necessarily fixing the issuing since the one on now isn’t broke - just worn. Any ideas what else I should check? It quite awhile to get the video to play, but the RPM's never comes up enough to get the variator to close - there is something wrong with the throttle or the ignition.
Choke is off, and when I open it, quad dies. I guess it could be stuck open even when it shows off? As for speed limiter, are you referring to the thing on the cdi box? Because it’s been removed for a few years now. Carbs are one thing I’ll have to learn about. They intimidate me lol. It was running just fine until he hit the hole. Completely dry outside too. Back to the choke though, since I got a new throttle cable I was looking at where the choke meets a curved metal line that goes into carb and I’m really unsure how to remove the cable from it?From the way it was running, I would say it might be running with the choke on, have water in the carburetor or is prematurely hitting the speed limiter
Oh geesh, here I was thinking it might be something simple I was overlooking. I’m not sure how to narrow the issue. I guess I better start studying the carb diagram so I can pull it apart. I truly appreciate your helpful inputs!Actually, the curved piece of metal is for the throttle cable - the choke just goes straight in

The way it acts when you open the throttle it goes from firing on every stroke to firing every other stroke - it what's referred to in the industry as 4 stroking - it might be the carb has water in it or the main jet may have fallen out - it might be an electrical problem and losing spark above a certain RPM.
