Thanks to everyone in advance for the help. this is a great forum!
my sportsman 4x4 isnt engaging. I found this out while on a duck hunting trip and had to walk out for some assistance. What I have done this far is fully charge the battery. I am going out to test the handlebar switch and try to find the transmission switch. There is no indicator visible to tell if it is engaged or not. Any places to look would be helpful. I already have one bike in the shop for a new driveline and cv joints.

Checking for power at the switches is a great place to start. Check AWD switch with key on and shifter in Forward. Should have power at switch, if not then check the transmission switch. Also check or change fluid in front hubs.

I have found that not using polaris oil, such as atf which they say you can use can give you problems of not engaging or disingaging.

I second that Biggs , IF ATF is all you got, you must use the type F. It has the friction modifier. Spend the extra dollars and get the Demand Drive Polairs fluid..
