I recently bought a 04 Sportsman needing work (wouldn't start) that was the easy part. I noticed I have a clank in the right rear axle as it turns under a load only. I noticed when power is applied and quad is moving forward or reverse the axle coming out of the transmission has play and appears it could be causing the noise. CV joints seem fine. My question is has anyone else experienced this problem? was it infact the transmission or Possibly a bad cv joint?
Also needing a good front Transfer case aswell or place to purchase a new solenoid for the transfer case as mine has a broken wire.

Arob, I didn't have a noise, but my bearings were bad.
If you have it up on stands, and grab it at 12 o'clock and pull out and in, there should not be any play. If there is, may have bad bearing.
Check out my post about hard to shift and you will see a pic of the hub off. It not hard to change them.
If they are, check a local bearing supply place or look on line.
Hump.
