Hi everyone, a friend of mine has an 07 Polaris Scrambler 500 4X4 that he recently rolled over. Ever since, it has started making this god awful grinding noise.
I’m very familiar with two stroke dirt bikes, but four stroke quads, Polaris’ especially, are a mystery to me. The only thing I can think of is possibly a stretched timing chain caused by a broken tensioner, an issue with the piston itself, or some type of issue inside the pull start cover.
I’ve read several things about different issues with these 500cc engines being very loud but this noise to me causes concern of it being something much worse than a worn bendix etc.
Any help diagnosing or other experience is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
