i just bought a 1990 trail boss 250 2x4 from a guy that stored it for the winter and it would not start the following spring. I have been thru the carb and cleaned it out, new gas, filter and oil but it wont start. It is getting plenty of gas, has good spark, and it has fired and run twice but when i shut it off i played hell to get it to start again. Anyone have any ideas

I would say the crank case likely has gas in it, very common and the slightest amount will prevent it from starting. There is a drain on bottom of the crank case, it takes a 10mm socket and extension. If you look at the narrow skid plate under the engine there will be a small oval hole (I think on the left side), the extension and socket go through that hole and should line up with a drain on the crank case. This happens when the needle and seat do not completely seal, the carb will slightly run over and run into the engine. Make sure you turn the gas off when not riding.
