Ok so i have a 1991 Polaris Trail boss 250 and i have never had any problems with it the only one i had was a starter issue and i was riding like that for about a year (i had the pull start) and i decided Electric start would be a nice option to have so i looked around and got an OEM starter and i put in in and for the first couple of days everything was just fine and the next day i went out to ride and i turned the key and i had nothing no starter power nothing so i made sure my battery was fine i had 12.7 volts then i grabbed a screwdriver and jumped the solenoid and that worked so it came down to that the solenoid was bad so i bought a new one and i had it all installed and i still had nothing and i checked all my wiring i even made sure the button was good by taking the wires of and trying to jump it manually and I was just extremely stumped and i need help.

The solenoid is externally grounded where it bolts to the frame or battery box - the white wire with the red stripe is the hot wire from the starter button - unplug (disconnect) the wht/red wire and use a piece of wire to jump from the pos side of the battery to the terminal the wht/red wire was on - if the solenoid closes and the starter motor runs, then the problem is in the wiring - if the solenoid does not close, then it is not grounded or is faulty - if the solenoid closes and the starter motor does not run, then the starter motor may be faulty - test the starter motor by jumping from the battery pos to the starter motor wire - if the motor runs, then a faulty soleniod is one problem - get this part verified and then we will move on to getting 12v on the wht/red wire when the starter switch is activated.
