Greetings,

I picked up (sucker) a 1995 polaris 400 big boss 6x6 off fb. Granted I was taken a bit. That's on me. I've got it tore down in my garage, got a service manual online but trying to change the tranny fluid and can't find the plug.
Is it a 16mm bolt on the right bottom side? I've got it jacked up and no obvious plug bolt on the bottom side. It needs a lot of tlc but good project for my son and I.
Thanks.

Thanks. I am a novice so if that was a Crack at me I can take it. Attached are a couple photos. That bolt is not on the end but the side bottom. If that's the plug I'll get a longer handled socket wrench because I don't think it's been chemged in a while and I can't create enough torque on my standard sized rachet to bust it loose. Thanks

You asked where to locate the Oil Drain Plug so I posted a picture of it along with the corresponding number in the picture it is. What did you want us to do? Show up at your door and point to it? WOW just wait untill you ask for future help.... A simple Thanks for helping would have been a better responce.

Yes, that is the drain plug - the breakdowns are not always oriented the same as physical installation. If it's removable, take the skid plate off for easier access and a cleaner job.

Good morning. Please accept my apologies. It was a frustrating evening as each time I took something off I found more issues with this thing. Thanks for the diagram. That was very helpful. My point and pictures is that the diagram appears to show the plug is on the end but the only bolt I can readily see is on the bottom front side. Would a guy need to take the entire bottom metal grate off to access the plug if it's on the end? It just seemed to me the tyranny drain plug would be more readily accessible.
Thanks again.

Thanks guys. I got a longer swivel handle ratchet and changed the fluid. Hard to tell how much to put in as it's got that mini "dipstick" that doesn't go deep into the cavity. Now I am assuming this cover was once here. Always something. Got all the fluids changed. Now spark plug wire comes tomorrow so hoping to be able to see if it starts up tomorrow night. Great experience with my 9yo son as I've never done something like this before.

Thanks. Fingers crossed. That open piece in the photo has me concerned. Clearly should have a cover of some sort. Trying to figure out in manuals. Appreciate the assistance.

Thanks. Gosh we were so close. Got it together and she started right up but wouldn't stay running. Just hummed for a couple mins. Must be something with the carb which of course is a challenge to get off. Neat project.
