I have a 1999 magnum 500 that runs terrible. It idles and starts fine but backfires and looses power at anything over 1/4 throttle. I rebuilt the carb, checked the valve clearance, new spark plug, air cleaner, and fuel filter. I still have the same problem. Any ideas? I am new to this sight and hope I did this right. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Dan.

Hello and welcome!:wavey:
Had a similar issue on my '97 Magnum and it ended up being the exhaust cam lobe and rocker arm. Take off the rocker cover and check the middle cam lobe for wear and scoring.

ditto on cam lobe being bad, if you checked the valve clearance you would have seen a bad lobe cause you couldnt have se the exhaust valves if cam was bad
