This is my first time here and I am glad I found the site. I think I will be visiting it a lot. I just got a 1999 Polaris 400 4x4 scrambler. It's got some black smoke coming from the muffler and is constant, but not a cloud or anything. There also appears to be oil in the muffler. I do know that it hasn't been rode in a few months, and had a few things replaced. My question as I don't have much work with 2 stroke engines is what this may be or what would I need to look at. I thought the smoke may be from the fuel to air ratio, but not after I saw the oil in the pipe. It's not blowing out, but you can wipe the oil at the very tip. It still runs and sounds great, but if there is a problem I don't want to screw up the engine.
