I was plowing tonight and everything was going fine. All of a sudde. My headlights go out when I'm about done so I make sure to go put it away. Is this a battery issue I presume that it shuts the lights off to let you know the battery is almost dead or an overheating issue? I turned the key off and turned it back on and the lights came back on but it started really rough.

Yes, the lights will stop working as the battery goes dead. Check the battery first. When my 01 did that I found the battery was low on electrolyte. Could be that yours has checked out but maybe just a maintenance issue.
