I have a 2000 sportsman 335 that overheats and shuts down, when cooled starts back up. I have ohmed the thermistor and it is bad, this part has been discontinued. I jumped orange/black wire to ground, fan runs with ignition on. I have discovered the thermo valve is not working and oil is bypassing oil cooler and returning directly back to oil tank causing a overheat problem. My question is can this valve be bypassed and directly hook oil lines to inlet and outlet of oil cooler? Living in South Texas, keeping cool more important than keeping warm.

Yes, the thermo bypass valve can be eliminated - just plumb around it with appropriate fittings
