While riding the other day I had to stop as my 2000 sportsman 500 4x4 started leaking coolant out of the top of the over flow box where you fill your coolant at it was squirting out of the tiny hole on the cap the bike was stil running and will start fine just that after a few minutes it heats up and well I already said it squirts out the tiny hole in the cap now my first thought was it might be a thermastat that is not properly opening or is stuck closed thats what it act like at least when that happens in a car can any one offer a suggestion and is there even a thermastat on the head where the hose return is thank you very much for your help not to bleed this forum I will do my best to search and answer simple questions that others have

is there a hot light coming on? if not did you fill the overflow too full, when coolant in rad heats up it expands into overflow bottle it needs room to do that. otherwise check rad for plugged fins.
