Every time I go to start my dad's Xpedition after shutting it off it takes forever to get the neutral light to come on even though the ATV actually is in neutral. This won't allow me to start it till I get the green neutral light to come on. Any ideas on what it could be?

Probably the gear position switch bad or the connection to it.
Number 15 in the pic. Here's a link to one on ebay for $24

How would I test for a bad connection on the switch?

First just check that the connector is clean and tight and no wires are broken. Then check that its not just loose or has a bad ground if it works sometimes but is sporadic. If you don't find the problem then with a digital multimeter you can see if its in the switch itself. I don't have a schematic for that machine but Grey will be ground. Green is probably N and Purple is likely R.

Neutral is grn/wht - forward is gry/wht - reverse is pur

Grounding the wires turns the light on - ground grn/wht turns on neutral, ground gry/wht turns on forward and ground pur to turn on reverse

I'm thinking its a bad switch as everything works and the grounds are clean but it doesn't work all the time. I notice the switch is inside the gearcase what would I have to do to remove it?
